T-Shirt Memory Quilts – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you put a photo on a T-Shirt to be part of my quilt?

You can find plenty of places on the www, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. to get your photo put on a T-shirt for you. We can then add that T-Shirt to your Memory Quilt. Most large drugstore photo labs can do that for you.

2. Can I use in other types of shirts besides T-Shirts?

Yes, anything that is machine washable can be included, jerseys, dri-fit, sweatshirt, button downs, even jeans.

3. Do you secure the front of the quilt to the back?

Yes, we sew the front of the quilt to the back by machine stitching along the border. The sides are always machine sewn.

4. Do you use other material besides fleece for the backing?

No, everyone loves fleece.

5. Do you use batting and a decorative stich on top?

No and No. Our fleece backed T-Shirt Blankets are lightweight, comfy, cozy and fluffy enough without all that.

6. How big are T-Shirt Memory quilts?

It really depends on the sizes of your t-Shirt logos.

Our standard panel size is either 15″ x 15″, or 12″ x 12″. Using 15″ x 15″ squares, without border or borders. (NOTE: Shirt Count is based on using one side of the T-Shirt ONLY. We can use both sides, if you’d like.)

  • Throw-size 12-shirt quilt. Approximately 45″ x 60″
  • Twin-size 20-shirt quilt. Approximately 60″ ” 75″
  • Full-size 30-shirt quilt. Approximately 75″ x 90″
  • Queen-size 36-shirt quilt. Approximately 90″ x 90″
  • King-size, 42-shirt quilt. Approximately 105″ x 105″

7. How long will it take to get my t-Shirt Memory quilt?

It will take approximately 3-5 weeks from the time we receive your t-shirts until you see your memory quilt.

8. Can I see a layout of my T-shirt quilt before you sew it?

Yes, we can text you a photo of the layout.

9. Do I have to wash or cut my shirts before I send them?

Wash, yes. Cut, no.

10. Do I have to choose the color and/or pattern of fleece material used to make my quilt?

Nope, you can leave it up to us to make your blanket look fabulous. If you would like us to help you decide, we’d be happy to help. If you already know what color you would like, just let us know. We will contact you if we have any problems with your choice. Rest assured we will contact you to discuss before starting your quilt.

11. Is embroidery an option?

Yes!  For $50, we can add up to 60 characters (including spaces).  However, for best results, we suggest keeping the message short .  The longer the message, the smaller the font.

12. Can I wash my memory quilt?

Yes! Wash in cold, tumble dry on low. They are so cozy!

13. How do I prep my shirts?

  • Wash and dry your shirts. Unfortunately I’m not a stain fighter so if you are unable to remove stains they will just be a part of the charm of your quilt.
  • Separate your shirts into two piles; a ‘must be included’ and a ‘if we have room’. Within each of those two piles be familiar with which ones have fronts and backs and if you want all of those included or just one side.

14. How many t-shirts do I need?

This is the most obvious question, yet the hardest to answer. Do your shirts have two sides? Do you want smaller chest graphics combined into one square? What style do you prefer? What size would you like?…..   It is much easier to decide what style and size you prefer and then work backwards from there. We usually encourage folks to include everything they would like as a part of the quilt and we can work together to see how it shakes out to accommodate your preferences.

15. What types of shirts can I include?

Cotton tshirts, sweatshirts, dri-fit, athletic fabrics… we’ve even used a letterman jacket. We can also use sweaters, button ups, jeans and so on though that is getting more into the ‘memory quilt’ world and we might need to discuss pricing. The most important thing to remember is that the most delicate thing you add to your quilt makes the entire quilt that delicate.
